What is the Ron Paul Sign Page? Print E-mail

October 20, 2007

An Open Letter to ‘Paulunteers’ Everywhere,

Since July 2007, the Portland, Oregon, Ron Paul Meetup group has held multiple weekly 'Banner Brigades' during rush hour at various locations across town. At each Banner Brigade, we display a wide variety of 'home-made' signs, in addition to official campaign signs, such as ‘Ron Paul for President.’

Made with stencils and spray paint, our home-made signs display succinct messages that are thought-provoking, informative, and sometimes even humorous. (If you can make people smile while making an important point about Dr. Paul, that's pure gold.) As part of this effort, we've been brainstorming sign ideas for weeks, and have now made those suggestions publicly available on the Ron Paul Sign Page.

Aside from the Internet, Banner Brigades are perhaps the most effective medium for 'spreading the word' about Ron Paul. Unlike the rare coverage of Dr. Paul in conventional media, WE control the messaging on our signs, so others don't have the opportunity to distort his views and track record. In other words, our signs ARE our media -- delivered direct and unfiltered to our target audience -- and in an average two-hour span during rush hour, thousands of people read our signs. Without a doubt, Banner Brigades provide the biggest 'bang-for-the-buck' for our time and effort.

Due to the effectiveness of Banner Brigades, we gave some thought to how we might assist not only our own local efforts, but those of Paulunteers everywhere. The result is the Ron Paul Sign Page, which:

  1. Consists of a growing collection of the "Very Best" ideas for Ron Paul signs, organized by issue/topic (e.g. foreign policy, civil liberties, etc.).

  2. Serves as a national resource for anyone interested in making a sign for Ron Paul –- in other words, we hope the Ron Paul Sign Page will earn a reputation as THE PLACE to go for great Ron Paul sign ideas.

  3. Gives YOU the opportunity to submit your own suggestions for inclusion on the page. With this feature, we intend to harness the creativity of Paulunteers everywhere –- a boundless resource, as we all know.

  4. Encourages people to start their own Banner Brigades. In Portland, our brigades are fun events, and we get a real kick out of displaying our signs –- signs with messages like "Question US Foreign Policy" and "Dr. Ron Paul cured my apathy." Ultimately, we hope the Ron Paul Sign Page contributes to a pervasive wave of Banner Brigades from sea to shining sea!

So pick out your favorite sign ideas and get going –- and when inspiration strikes, send us your own suggestions, too! (Mail to: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it )
