WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and WHY - GETTING UP TO SPEED
Karen and Sal, neither of whom ever have "done anything like this before," will tell you their personal stories and answer your questions.
Until 3 months ago none of us cared about politics. Like most of us, Karen and Sal, disgusted, and often disheartened, never in their wildest dreams thought they'd be leading the charge to put an honest man in the White House, or standing by highways with banners and signs, or turning others like themselves into Ron Paul Republicans, of all things, or that they would be about to turn Oregon, and national political assumptions up side down.
Find out how they, and all of us are inventing our future, how we've evolved into highly effective, spontaneous teams, how we communicate, and where we think we're going with all this. Once you've see current reality, and once you create your vision, you will close that gap at the speed of light. Your world, and our world, will never be the same.
TURNING THE WORLD RIGHT SIDE UP
The Ron Paul Campaign is not a campaign at all in any conventional sense. It's we, the people, who are taking control of our own lives.
We've found one honest man, someone who is authentic, principled, with core values. He's a simple, direct man whom we understand and trust instinctively. He's written so much you can find his positions on any issue at the Ron Paul Library. This is the man we've chosen as our candidate. He also is a Republican. January 20, 2009 in the Oval Office, you and I shake his hand. Right now we're inventing a path to put him there. Parts of the path are time honored and well known. Much of the path you, and I, and thousands of others just like us all over the country are inventing right now.
In an interactive workshop, Jamie and Karl will explain how the GOP works today. Together we'll create a "how to" plan and book the hall to celebrate our Oregon Primary landslide on May 20, 2008. There actually are several paths to the landslide, and I'm certain, more we will discover. Each path begins with you, where you are today, in your life, with your family, in your apartment and your home. And the best helping hand is the one at the end of your own arm.
The near term goal is simple. Ron Paul Republicans are so indispensable to the Oregon GOP that we are the Oregon Ron Paul GOP, sweeping to a primary landslide, selecting committed Ron Paul supporters as delegates to the GOP National Convention, and literally turning politics and the status quo upside down.

Katja's a whiz. 90 days ago she was a Mom with two small kids. Now she puts them in a wagon, grabs a flag, and props up her Ron Paul "Hope for America" sign as she leads, and tangos the Ron Paul wave in Clark County and Southwest Washington. She's also taught herself to canvass, not just to spread the word but to help people understand why they, and all of us, find ourselves drawn to and fascinated by Ron Paul and the message of Liberty.
Learn the nuts and bolts of outreach from a dynamic, dedicated, focused lady and her team. When you finish you too will be ready, willing and able to invent Ron Paul Republicans, and even transmogrify your favorite Democrat on the phone and in person, as often as you like.
We've got "Tickets to Freedom" for everyone. You'll know exactly what to do to register hundreds and hundreds of Ron Paul Republicans and be ready for Voter Registration Boot Camp at the Saturday Market right after Thanksgiving. There are so many opportunities, and this is such fun.

Depending on numbers, Kyle Sanders, a veteran of the conflict in Afghanistan, will share with us his experiences and insights into what actually is going on, what we are or are not accomplishing and why, and he'll tell us why he, and many other veterans who know the score first hand actively support Dr. Ron Paul.

 !!! REMINDER !!! - Join us this Sunday November 18th @ 2pm and learn how to pave the path to the primary for Dr. Ron Paul. This will be a very important meeting where we can plan, strategize and brainstorm. If you are new to the group and want to learn how to start showing your support for Ron Paul this is the meeting to attend.
We will have three rotating workshops:
1. Orientation - An introduction to our group's activities, presented by Karen Sutton & Sal Casuccio.
2. The Republican Party - An overview of what we need to do with the GOP to get Dr. Paul nominated. Focus on what each individual needs to do, as well as important, upcoming party activities, presented by Karl Huber & Jamie Jackson.
3. Canvassing - Techniques and good practices, presented by Katja Delavar.

An important note from Katja:
Maureen Moore (our state coordinator for the Ron Paul Campaign) sent me an email about a guy who wants to do all he can to get Ron Paul's name out there and he has screen printing capabilities in his store. I met with him, got all the information and verified with Maureen that we are *not* taking any business or donation capabilities away from the campaign.
She said that in terms of yard signs, that headquarters has been swamped and they are barely making a profit with the shipping fees that are involved. Last time my group ordered signs, it took 5 weeks. Our store is going to get it out in less than a week with no shipping fees.
In terms of shirts and slim jims, you can get any thing you want from the Ron Paul Store and that if you have designs that you like to make of your own, you can use this supplier and get it locally. No tax for Oregonians either.
So, that is what I know and it is not stepping on toes. They have plenty of business from the entire nation so if the two states involved here (Washington and Oregon) don't order from them, they will not be traumatized.

CONGRATULATIONS to the WINNERS of the RON PAUL SIGN CONTEST! |

The Ron Paul Sign Contest concluded on November 8th, and the six judges have now finished their deliberations. To all those who helped promote this event, as well as the many participants, THANK YOU! In total, more than 40 new sign ideas were added to the RON PAUL SIGN PAGE - slogans that are now freely available for use by Paulunteers everywhere. (For some guaranteed laughs, be sure to check out the "Outreach" category - and remember, each new addition is indicated by  .)
With more than 400 entries received from around the world (thank you, England and Japan!), the Judges' Panel had to make an exceedingly difficult decision. The contestants submitted a slew of creative, humorous entries, so we got a real kick out of the evaluation process. Perhaps most interestingly, there was very little overlap between the initial "Top Five" and "Honorable Mentions" submitted by each of the judges - a reflection not only of the large number of quality entries received, but also the individuality of those who judged the entries - a real microcosm of Dr. Paul's diverse base of support.
Some contestants also submitted PICTURES of their own campaign efforts, as well as COMMENTS about the Ron Paul Sign Page and Contest.

 On Saturday November 10th over 5,000 people attended the Ron Paul Rally in Philadelphia at the Independence Mall to celebrate Liberty, Peace, Prosperity, and to show their support for Dr.Paul.

November 5th - A day for the history books! |

 What an exciting, history-making day yesterday was for Dr. Ron Paul, his campaign, and his supporters. With over 37,000 donations totaling more than $4.2 million in under 24 hours, the November 5th 'Money Bomb' was a great success. It also brought about some great press coverage on sites such as USA Today, Reuters, NY Times, Washington Post, and many, many others! It really showed how much support is out there for Dr. Paul and his freedom message. We are not just a few on the internet - we are many thousands strong across the country!
Oregonians opened their pocket books and generously donated to the campaign, as you can see on THIS CHART.
You can also keep track of real-time donation graphs and statistics for the fourth quarter at paulcash.slact.net/. The campaign is really starting to pick up steam - let's keep it going by spreading the word and keeping the donations coming! Ron Paul for 2008!!

 !!! REMINDER !!! - The deadline for the Ron Paul Sign Contest is this Thursday, November 8th. (Over 200 entries received to date.)
Congressman Paul is a long-time student and advocate of the ' Austrian School of Economics,' the preeminent tradition of free-market economics - and a contributing inspiration for the creators of the Ron Paul Sign Page. As a leading Austrian theoretician and Nobel Laureate winner, F.A. Hayek (1899-1992) expounded upon the following concepts throughout his career:
- Spontaneous (or emergent) order, which refers to the natural emergence of complex, beneficial, socio-economic arrangements in a free society - order that does not (and, in many cases, can not) arise from central planning and authoritarian dictates, but rather from individuals exercising their freedom of thought and action.
- Local knowledge, which refers to each individual's unique knowledge of the world and his (or her) personal circumstances. As Hayek explained in his seminal work The Use of Knowledge in Society one reason that central plans fail to achieve their objectives is because they disregard and subvert the local knowledge of individuals - knowledge that is frequently context-specific and dynamic, often changing from one moment to the next. Even the 'best and brightest' planners possess only a small fraction of relevant knowledge about socio-economic issues, and their expertise typically fails to account for local knowledge and the infinite complexity of interpersonal socio-economic relationships. (For an illustrative example, see Leonard Read's classic parable, 'I, Pencil.')
These Hayekian insights motivated the creators of the Ron Paul Sign Page. With the Sign Page, Paulunteers everywhere now have access to a wide variety of clever, effective sign messages. - Cultural and linguistic preferences in your area

By giving people the opportunity to submit their own ideas, the creators of the Sign Page hope to harness the unlimited creativity and dispersed knowledge of Ron Paul supporters everywhere. Following the conclusion of the contest on November 8th, we'll post the best entries on the page for everyone's use - and give each contributor credit by displaying his or her name with each posted submission. (And, of course, we'll continue updating the page as future submissions are received.)
The Ron Paul Sign Page is just the latest example of the widespread 'spontaneous order' arising from the unprecedented grassroots support of Dr. Paul's candidacy. So far as I'm aware, this is the first time that a resource of this kind has been created for a presidential campaign - a resource inspired by fundamental insights from the Austrian School.
