The next step: The Campaign for Liberty

OregoniansForRonPaul.com goes LIVE! Print E-mail

What’s the number one request for Meetup Organizers?THE OREGON (AND VANCOUVER) RON PAUL REVOLUTION!
a) Remove the registration requirement for our Meetup groups.
b) Get Sean Hannity to admit that Ron Paul supporters can only vote once in Fox News polls.
c) Provide Karl a much-deserved online forum – and thereby extend the lifespan of e-mail servers everywhere.
Honestly, I have no clue. What I do know is that Karl and Scott requested that some of us get together and build a website that better meets the needs of our growing community of local 'Paulunteers' - so some of us sat down and did just that.
Sure, the site's not perfect and there’s still some work to be done, but it’s at a point where we think the benefits outweigh any further delays for initial development. So, without further ado, I present www.OregoniansForRonPaul.com!
“Wait!” you may shout, why on Earth do we need another website?! Well, thanks for asking. Here’s why:
  1. Our own blog – The front page of OregoniansForRonPaul.com will contain blog entries by group members. No longer do you need to hunt through tons of daily e-mails to stay hip on what’s going on. And we techno geeks can even subscribe to the blog via RSS. If you'd like to contribute to the blog, please send your submission to the blog moderator at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
  2. Custom pages – We now have the ability to add custom pages for our community. A shining example would be the Ron Paul Sign Page that was put together by Scott Sutton. (And be sure to submit your sign suggestions for the Ron Paul Sign Contest!)
  3. Communication – This site’s Message Board is a robust forum system that consists of individual categories for many subjects. Therefore, we're no longer limited to a rambling list of unrelated topics. In addition, the Message Board can be used by Ron Paul supporters all over Oregon and Vancouver. Categorized forums will benefit new members by helping them get up to speed quickly -- and it will help existing members by making it easy for them to quickly locate messages of interest.
  4. Integrated Calendars - In time, we plan to add a Calendar feature that will seamlessly integrate the scheduled events and activities of all Oregon and, perhaps, Washington Meetup groups. For now, we've simply provided a page with links to the calendars of each Meetup group in those states.
  5. Integration with other websites – An example would be the automatically updated list of recent topics from www.RonPaul2008.com (located in the left sidebar). Other resources will be added in the future, such as an auto-updating progress bar for the monthly campaign contributions.
  6. Multimedia – The site includes a page for photos, as well as a video page containing a limited collection of YouTubes produced by Paulunteers in Oregon and Washington.
There’s a big list of new and exciting features that we’re working on getting out to you as well. Since we were pressed for time and have a limited ‘staff,’ a couple of features did not make it into the initial version of the website (such as the integrated calendar system for groups in Oregon and Vancouver). As a result, you will still need an account for your local Meetup group to access its calendar and to receive event reminders.
Since we're now in full campaign mode with only a couple of months until the first primary, expect things to change rapidly on our new site. Your participation is critical in securing the GOP nomination for Dr. Paul. So please get involved, and join www.oregoniansforronpaul.com today!
Sincerely,
Jerret Kinsman

P.S. - We’re looking for volunteers to join our Web team and assist with ongoing development of the site, so please let me know if you can help out. There’s plenty of opportunities for creative input and fun projects, so don’t be shy. Also, I’ll schedule a training session for all Web team members sometime soon – at that time, I’ll show everyone how to navigate and use Joomla!, the application used to develop and maintain the Web site.
