Whether this is a short term public relations action designed to pacify the Pakistani people or the beginning of further estrangement between the US and Pakistan we do not know. At this point Pakistan would not want its troops to confront US troops. Nor is that necessary since the local tribes appear to be doing that successfully. Also the US incursion results from military confrontations and what's needed is to deescalate, not increase confrontation.
