History of the Russian - Georgian conflict 3 Months, 1 Week ago
Needless to say, we're unlikely to get the straight scoop on the Russo-Georgian conflict from toady American media. But for those of us who haven't spent the past 20 years riveted by events in the region, here's a helpful primer on its recent history -- a history that includes (surprise, surprise) episodes of overt and covert intervention by the US.

Russia marks its red lines, by F. William Engdahl

As always, keep your eyes on Antiwar.com for candid news and analysis about this latest unfolding crisis.

Interesting comparing mainstream media reports verses what I'm reading on Lew Rockwell and Antiwar.com - someone's confused ... or lying ... (nah, that would never happen)

I'm sure you caught the FOX video of the girl who was interviewed with her Aunt that said the GEORGIAN troops are the ones who started it and the RUSSIAN troops are the ones who helped save her life! (If not, I can find it)

Boy, FOX news wasn't expecting THAT!

(tee hee )

It appears that we did not expect the American trained Georgian Army to flee and so were unprepared for the media repair job now required. There are obvious attempts to paint the Russians as the aggressors. They are, but they are only one of two aggressors, the first in time being the Georgians.

There are reports out of Moscow that the Russians have in custody Americans who were dressed in Georgian uniforms and acting as officers in the Georgian Army as it advanced into Southern Ossetia and began killing civilians, causing a general exodus into Russia. I wonder how long they will rot in Lubianka because the US Government never will acknowledge they exist.

Gorbachev on the Georgian/Russian conflict.

I do think we will see "regime change," not because that was the initial Russian objective but because without regime change there will continue to be instability on the Russian border.

Russia will stay "within the UN peace mandate."

Notice that he allows the US a face saving way out by allowing us to blame the President of Georgia for misleading us and the world. Will we take that exit path?
