The next step: The Campaign for Liberty

Ron Paul's history-making 'Tea Party' Print E-mail
On Sunday, December 16th -- the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party -- Ron Paul's supporters contributed over $6 MILLION to the campaign, thereby setting the following all-time records for presidential candidates:

Record #1: Most funds donated by supporters in a single day -- a record set by John Kerry's supporters when Kerry won the Democratic nomination in 2004.

Record #2: Most funds donated online in a single day -- a record previously set by Paul supporters on November 5th ($4.2 million).

Record #3: Total
number of individual donors in a single day -- 58,407 (an average donation of just over $100).
Today, Ron Paul's fundraising total for the 4th quarter exceeds $18 MILLION, far outpacing the campaign's initial goal of $12 million. In fact, it now appears that Paul will emerge as the leading Republican fundraiser for the 4th quarter.

To celebrate Sunday's fundraising drive, Paulunteers also held 'Tea Parties' all across the country, as well as other parts of the world -- for a sampling of pictures, click here.

As with most activities surrounding the Ron Paul movement, these unprecedented events were entirely initiated and coordinated by volunteers unaffiliated with the official campaign.

Last fall, conventional media sources began regularly publicizing the candidacies of the anointed 'front runners.' Since then, those candidates have received daily coverage from major television networks and newspapers. In comparison, Ron Paul's candidacy has been largely ignored, mischaracterized, and/or belittled by those same sources -- despite the fact that Dr. Paul has:
  • Consistently drawn large, enthusiastic crowds on the campaign trail.

  • More straw poll victories than any other candidate.

  • Far more grassroot volunteers than any other candidate.

  • More volunteer-created blogs & Web sites than any other candidate.

  • More online traffic than any other candidate.

QUESTION
: If supporters of one of the establishment candidates had set the records cited above -- say, for instance, McCain or Edwards -- how do you suppose the conventional media would treat those accomplishments?
Personally, I have no doubt it would be front-page news, and the establishment's opinion makers would excitedly chatter about it for days.

BTW, here's a rather telling photograph from today's press conference in which the Paul campaign announced the totals from Sunday's Tea Party:
As they say, a picture's worth a thousand words.

Note: Following Dr. Paul's $4.2 million haul on November 5th, other campaigns attempted to replicate that success. For instance, supporters of Barack Obama promoted "Barack's Friday," and set a goal of $5 million.

The result? $4600 from 73 donors.

a play on Fox News' slogan, 'We report, you decide.'
