As many of you will recall, the Portland Ron Paul Meetup group created and distributed business cards to promote the Good Doctor's presidential campaign. In total, we handed out over 20,000 of the cards in the Portland area with great results.
To contribute to the building buzz around the
Campaign for Liberty, we're now developing a new series of cards. The first shipment just arrived and includes 1,000 of each of the following cards (click link to view PDF; accessible only to Portland CFL Meetup members):
CFL Card - General Interest
CFL Card - Economics
CFL Card - War and Foreign Policy
The business card format offers several advantages over larger media, such as brochures and fliers, including:
Accessibility. Most people are willing to take the time to read a small business card, but far fewer make the effort to wade through a brochure or even a flier.
Convenience. The cards provide an easy means of 'spreading the word,' since they're small enough to carry in your pocket, purse, or wallet. During the campaign, many of us carried cards at all times, and handed them out to restaurant servers, store clerks, and complete strangers on the street.
Cost-effectiveness. They're relatively inexpensive.
The new series of "Pssst" cards is intended to:
- Educate the public on freedom-oriented principles and positions.
- Cultivate intellectual curiosity on the part of the reader.
- Direct readers to the Web sites of leading organizations in the freedom movement, such as the Campaign for Liberty, Break the Matrix. and the Mises Institute.
To supplement the cards above, we're also planning versions focused on:
- Civil liberties, and
- The unfolding fiscal/monetary crisis.
At some point, we may also convert the "Pssst" cards to a line of shirts.
We're now in the process of determining how best to make the cards publicly available. Ideally, we would find a home with an online store that supports both business cards and shirts, since we think the "Pssst" concept will catch on and generate some buzz -- perhaps even a store hosted by LibertyOregon.org (i.e. the URL for this Web site following our upcoming conversion).
So if you know of a printer or someone else who would be willing to work with us to create an online store for the "Pssst" line of products, please let me know. (sgsutton AT comcast.net)
The Organizers of CFL Portland will have the cards in stock at our upcoming events. So come on out and help yourself to a fist full or more, and start 'spreading the word' in your daily activities!
